September 2027 — if the current plan holds. Here is what that date rests on, why not every model will arrive together, and what actually happened when the phone was reported cancelled.

Rumor, not fact. Everything here is reporting and speculation. Apple has announced none of it. Each claim is rated by how good its sourcing is.
The short answer

September 2027 — 20th-anniversary Pro and Pro MaxLikely
Then
Spring 2028 — the more affordable models of the same generationLikely
Confirmed?
No. Apple has announced nothing: not the date, the name or the product.

Mark Gurman, Bloomberg — report of September 4, 2026
The original iPhone went on sale in 2007. Apple marked the 10-year point with iPhone X in 2017, skipping a number to do it, and everything reported so far says it intends to make the same kind of statement at 20.
What the reporting says
Launch in September 2027
Likely
The 20th-anniversary Pro and Pro Max are still expected in September 2027, in Apple's usual fall flagship window. The original iPhone went on sale in 2007, which makes 2027 the 20-year mark.
Apple has moved to a staggered schedule: premium iPhones in the fall, cheaper models the following spring. Under that pattern, the non-Pro phones of the anniversary generation would arrive around spring 2028 rather than alongside the flagships.

Why the iPhone 20 will not launch all at once
Until recently Apple shipped its whole iPhone range in one September event. That has changed. The company now splits the year: premium phones in the fall, lower-priced phones the following spring.
You can see it happening right now. iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo launched in September 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are expected in spring 2027. Apply the same pattern a year later and you get the anniversary Pro models in September 2027 and their cheaper siblings in spring 2028.
That has a practical consequence for anyone planning a purchase: if you want the redesign but not the flagship price, your wait is closer to 18 months than 12.
The "iPhone 20 cancelled" report, in order
This is the single most misreported iPhone 20 story so far, so it is worth laying out exactly what was said and by whom.
Jefferies says the all-glass iPhone is cancelled
Analyst Edison Lee cites low yield and calls it a "major setback." Apple stock falls and the claim makes headlines everywhere.
A day after the cancellation note, Bloomberg reports Apple's glass-centric 20th-anniversary iPhone remains on track for 2027. The same report describes glass on the front and back curving into the sides, a metal band in the middle, and two models known internally as V73 and V74.
On August 10, 2026, Jefferies analyst Edison Lee said the all-glass iPhone had been cancelled because of low manufacturing yield, calling it a "major setback" to Apple's push toward higher-priced iPhones. Apple's stock dropped on the note. One day later, Bloomberg reported that Apple is still planning a glass-centric overhaul for the 20th anniversary, directly countering it.
Our read: As MacRumors points out, it is unclear whether Lee was describing the end of the entire redesign or only its all-glass display component. Gurman's explanation, as MacRumors relays it, is that Lee was likely describing a more ambitious all-glass design that was scrapped early on. A genuinely seamless glass front may never have been realistic, while other elements such as the quad-curved chassis could still be on track.
Where that leaves things: a financial analyst working from supply-chain checks said one thing, and the reporter with the best record on Apple's product plans said the opposite within 24 hours. We rate the cancellation claim as disputed rather than debunked, because low yield on a first-of-its-kind glass part is entirely believable and could still force compromises. But nothing credible says the 2027 launch itself is off.
What launches between now and then
Bloomberg's September 4 roadmap gives the full sequence leading up to the anniversary phone.
The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e arrive in spring 2027
Likely
Bloomberg's roadmap puts the standard iPhone 18 and the lower-cost iPhone 18e in spring 2027 — roughly six months after the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo, which are on sale now.
September 2027 is the expected window, per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Apple has not confirmed a date, a name, or the product itself.
Is the iPhone 20 coming out in 2026?
No. The phones Apple launched in September 2026 are iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Duo. The 20th-anniversary model is a 2027 product.
Why 2027?
The original iPhone went on sale in 2007, so 2027 marks 20 years. Apple did the same thing for the 10th anniversary, launching iPhone X in 2017.
Will all iPhone 20 models launch at the same time?
Unlikely. Apple now staggers its lineup: premium models in the fall, more affordable models the following spring. The anniversary Pro and Pro Max are expected in September 2027, with the cheaper phones of that generation around spring 2028.
Did Apple cancel the iPhone 20?
No credible report says so. Jefferies analyst Edison Lee said on August 10, 2026 that the all-glass iPhone had been cancelled due to low yield. Bloomberg reported the next day that the glass-centric 20th-anniversary iPhone remains on track for 2027.
What comes out before the iPhone 20?
According to Bloomberg's roadmap: the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in spring 2027, then iPhone Air 2 and a second-generation foldable alongside the anniversary models later in 2027.
When will iPhone 20 pre-orders start?
Nobody knows yet, and anyone giving a specific day is guessing. Apple's recent pattern is a keynote in the first half of September, pre-orders that Friday, and in-store availability a week later.
